July 20, 2011
A little while back I did some photos at the Kaufman Arts Studio for the Studio Players production of the Fear Project.
Produced by The Studio Players in partnership with The MT Space and Flush Ink Productions.
Co-created by Jessalyn Broadfoot, Kay’la Fraser, Jewels Krauss, Janice Lee, Steph-Marie Szenasi, and Kalene Ticknor.
Here’s the information posted at the facebook page.
An experiment in magic-realist theatre, ‘The Fear Project’ investigates a series of fears that many women identify with in a western society. Social expectations of physical attractiveness, heterosexuality, and motherhood are so prevalent in a culture wrought with conservative ideology; it is only when the fear of adhering to these social expectations is identified within and later embraced, that we can truly feel what it means to be free. Featuring a cast of six women, ‘The Fear Project’ is at times very real, at others surreal – but above all, call it theatre for social change.
